Or just tape it off carefully and spray (or maybe even roll) some bedliner on top of the steps. You can buy a can of spray bedliner just about anywhere these days though.
Still, my vote would be for the adhesive backed stair tread stuff. I've used it a lot and it's never peeled up on me. Great price here:
I think the important thing is to us something. Climbing high to clean roof solar panels or get supplies out of a roof rack on slippery ladder rungs is just NOT a good idea. A good way to ruin a vacation.
Just thought I would offer an update since I had to look this thread up again to reorder... Ended out using clicker44 & Nrobert10's idea of the deck pad for the ladder steps, and after 3 1/2 years of use the matting almost looks as good as the day I put it on, its some impressive stuff (only re-ordering due to a Racoon chewing on the matting on the bottom step - guess he liked the taste or the texture???).
That's a great tip. I've been using 80 grit traction tape which is kinda hard on bare feet and started wearing a hole in our new ladder-mounted trasharoo where it rubbed. This is much better. Thanks
