Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Tuesday, actually. Met Vince @ Jane, NV to receive our SMB, hereinafter referred to as the Desert Loon, and disappeared into Valley of Fire, too late for the meet & greet but not too late to thoroughly enjoy Mac's choice for the event. Back in cell phone land now & heading home with big smiles on all faces, dogs included.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I finally weighed my rig for free at my friend's trucking company: 8380 pounds.

Maybe not, it is an E250.

So, Mike, what's the ideal weight for my rig? Do I need to go on a diet in order to add more stuff to the SMB? Of course, my friend was in the passenger seat at the time. That means I can add another 200 lbs of gear if no one goes with me on my trips.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Most E-250s are rated at 8600# GVWR. Check your door data plate to be sure.

Mocked up the interior of the van build using styrofoam and tape.
Tweaked the design for a built in desk, realized that we had to reposition a high cabinet that's above the toilet, and honed the shower design.
Pictures here: http://www.advanturetrek.com/2011/12/st ... van-build/

Brought back good memories of building blanket forts as a kid.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

apologies for poor photos.

I fabricated and added a bracket that mounts my ScanGuage and iPhone to the side of the dash in my 08 e150. I really find the position works well. The Scan Gauge adheres with double sided tape to a flat surface on the bracket. The iPhone mounts using a $10 eBay bracket that is intended for inserting in a cup holder.

There's a slight vibration when engine running. By adding some paper between the bracket and side of dash (white piece in 2nd photo), the bracket gets squeezed when door closes. Vibrates just a tad after.

The bracket thus far has not gotten in the way of anything else.

$40 + 2-3 hrs. = success
