Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Blacked out so you can't quite tell its there, the two Endless Breeze FanTastic Fan: One on each side, one pushes the air in and the other side the fan pushes it out, both on Ram-Mounts to secure it. Used that Truck Bed Liner Spray.

Also made black foam outlines that goes before the Reflectix behind each window to keep it insulated even m ore..

The Screens were replaced with No-See-em black screens to keep-em No-See-em's out..

Had the tire carrier latch bracket re-welded. Some nameless driver did not pay attention to the disclaimer in the rear camera display that reads.

HOUSES IN THIS DISPLAY ARE CLOSER THAN YOU THINK.

Drove 100 miles on the fresh oil. Unhooked bypass filters, installed Motorcraft filter in stock location and changed oil again. Will commute with the Sporty this week to get a couple hundred miles on this change, and will change again. I'll get this engine cleaned out yet. Changed oil in the dirt bike too (RP Cycle Max).

deminimis, several companies make an additive you can add to your oil to help flush the engine. I've never used 'em, but way back in the dark ages I did flush an old Ford engine with diesel to clean it out. Worked great, and there wasn't even too much bearing knock

The diesel specialist that did my HPOP suggested I not go that route. I have Chemtool and have used others in the past. With the numerous quick changes, its certainly clearing up.

Installed new CCI carbon monoxide detector. I'll get approx 3.5 years out of this one, so that's cool.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Replaced the penthouse bungee cords. For the past year or so, I've had to stop about 2/3s of the way down when dropping the penthouse in order to pull the sides of the canvas in just behind the midpoint. In thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that the bungee cords might be getting tired. I tried pulling in some slack on them but they were obviously too old. The new ones appear to have eliminated the need to stop and pull in the canvas.

I also fixed the key remote. I had found that I couldn't use the remote to open/close except when standing fairly close to the van, unlike before. Replacing the battery didn't help. When I opened up the remote case and removed the circuit board and rubber gasket/keypad, I found grit inside and the circuit board contact for the open/lock button was dirty. Blowing the grit out and cleaning the circuit board contacts (and the graphite contacts) fixed the problem. I can now open and lock the van from inside our house again...

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

A couple of weeks back I changed transaxle fluid, but wasn't really sure if I liked the fluid. Today, changed it out again, but to Redline MT-90. Its 75w-90, GL4 synthetic and it also works in place of just about every other weight Advanced Adapters says are good alternates to 75w-90.

After that, I repacked my hubs with new grease and greased U-joints. Then I turned my attention to my dirt bike. Its coming along nicely and I'll be towing with the Sporty, so its relevant. Moab 8 days and counting.
