Brian when you get a chance can you put up photos of how SMB ran the wiring? That's the part I really want to see/copy. Thanks!

Nice work, and good decision on going with synthetic rope.
Can't the solenoid be mounted remotely, therefore getting rid of the need to modify the top hatch?

I have read the solenoid can be moved, but there was not enough room anywhere else in the bumper compartment to move it, and this way I didn't have to modify the winch.

In my old cherokee I relocated the solenoid pack to under the hood and cut a hole in the front rail for the winch controller.
You just need bigger wires!
You could also just hole the top- it's not like it's keeping much out anyway.

So they sort of mega spliced it into the line going to starter batteries if I'm seeing that right- thanks! That will help a lot.

Yep. I was looking at remounting the jumper post lug bracket further away from the frame to allow me to add the winch wire to the rear of the lug post, which is where SMB tied in the extra camper battery. They took a much easier route. But, then, maybe I tend to over think things sometimes...
