Electrical Outlet

My electrical outlet has come off the wall in my '97 Econoline SMB. Can't screw back in as there is nothing for screws to grab. Pannelling is so thin! How do I remount this? Does the grey part come off to mount first and then snap on the electrical box?

The holes are stripped out? I would glue thin-ish pieces of wood on the back side of the panel to provide a place for the screws to grab on to.

If you want to do away with that outlet all together, you can replace with standard household stuff. You should be able to find a blue “old work” box at the hardware store that has flip out tabs that will secure the box to the panel. Then you install/wire a standard 15amp outlet.

Good luck

The grey part just covers the electrical connection for the outlet. Pop it off, you’ll see. Shouldn’t need to mess with it just to remount in the wall panel though.

I believe those outlets have the flip out wings, so they really should not need to screw into the wood. If the wings have been lost, you might see if the blue box wings work or check out a new RV style outlet. I wouldn't take the back plate off unless you are replacing.

What Scalf77 said. Same thing happened in our rig last year. Replaced w a new "old work" blue box from home depot w the wings.
