Great! Glad it will work out!

One of the reasons I want to eliminate the adaptor is because I recently tried to rent a uhaul trailer and two trailers I hooked up to didn't have brake lights. I'm guessing it had to do with my van and not the trailers.

Is there a fuse or fuses I should be checking somewhere?

mikracer - Have you checked the terminals on your 7 point to see if they are working properly? Also do a check for continuity on your 7 to 4 adapter and/or voltage with it plugged in and wiggle it. There are plenty of schematics for which light function each terminal provides for 7 and 4. I would check that before looking for fuses. If the van lights work then the trailer connector should be active.

I have had UHaul completely melt their pigtail and literally melt my 7 to 4 adapter(they replaced it) due to the trailer having a wiring problem. I would not put it past that two trailers had the problem especially if they used the same pigtail. I now ALWAYS bring my meter when renting a trailer!

I'll need to check them. I've had issues with other trailers with lights not working. My toy hauler lights work fine with the 7 pin (last I checked) and my van lights work fine.

Did some sleuthing today and it turns out the fuse for the trailer relay turn signals (which also controls the brake lights) was burned out. Luckily I had the wiring manual for my van and it was easy to find which fuses to check. Put a new one in and we are back in business.

I think I'll still install the new plug with the 7 pin and 4 pin built in just because of convenience, but its not something that needs to be done immediately.
