Yeah, for some reason when I look at their depiction of peaks I've climbed they look lower, smoother and less steep....

Re: Offline GPS Maps

Here's a hijack but relatively close to the theme, maybe: http://weatherspark.com/

It's a phenomenal database of weather forecasts and history. For example, http://weatherspark.com/averages/30628/ ... ted-States

Doesn't work offline.

Hijack alert: here's a map site that is for the birds not SMBs but you'll enjoy if you get wind of its intent

http://earth.nullschool.net/#

EDIT: Click/touch the word "earth" in the lower left corner for options & about.

Re: Offline GPS Maps

Just bringing this thread back up in case anyone is interested in PeakFinder Earth. It's Amazon's free app of the day.

Another semi-related app, this one for deterring sunrise/sunset and economics times for any location and date: http://petesmith.co.nz/sunrise-sunset-modern/

Just in time for the summer season, here's the ultimate offline map:

I have and will keep pushing California Trail Map....it's an excellent offline map that has yet to let me down in a couple years of use.

I second Scott's endorsement of California Trail Map. I've used it for about three years now and have seen it expand to cover more of the state and now part of Nevada.
