Planning power system: input needed.

Things are underway! Happy with the new layout I’ve proceeded to begin interconnecting devices. An inverter was part of future plans, but for the sake of getting it all over with I pulled the trigger on one. Amazon had the 1000w Renogy units available with prime delivery.

I agree with Scalf77 about the minimal parasitic draw from the Victron BMS and your setup looks great with regard to the BMS. I’m surprised on your comments re: the bluetooth utilities. I replaced the Relion “Fuel Gauge” that SMB West put in our van with a Victron 712 BMS. Rather than having to look at the monitor in the van, I can use the phone app to see not only voltage, SOC, amps/in/out, I can see total amp/used, synchronizations, trends using my iPhone anywhere around the van. Also the temp sensor is useful to monitor the battery terminal temperature, especially if you have LiFePO4 batteries. For your setup I would definitely add the Bluetooth dongle. “Try it, you’ll like it.”

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll put it on the to-do list.

I used plastic edge guard on all the holes in the van body I plan on routing cabling through. All the 0 and 4 gauge cables coming in from under the van got covered in split loom once inside the van as well.

Ibike, nice work! I’m doing the same on my rig right now. Can you share with me how you chose to affix the plywood panel to the van? Plusnuts? Any tips on the fix points you used? Did it require 3/4” ply for strength?
.

.

1/4-20 riv-nuts in the sheet metal, the I used some long bolts with spacers I made from some 1/2” aluminum tubing to hold the board off the wall and perpendicular to the floor.

I used 3/4 ply wrapped in felt/trunk liner.

^^^^ Great idea. Thanks for the image, too. These E-series have the darnedest walls. I’ve been wondering if my board needs to be perpendicular or not. I’ll be putting a box over the whole thing. Thoughts?
