Single speaker amps by Rockford Fosgate. No power wire needed.

These seem popular in the boating and UTV world. Iím thinking about adding them to my back 6x8ís. Potentially all 5 speakers depending on the amp draw and sound quality.

From what I understand there is a battery that stores up unused signal. All thatís required is a ground wire.

What do you see as the benefit from running these amps? You're paying a pretty big premium for a small unit with little power.

I know there are much cheaper routes, they seem neat to me. The main benefit to me is easy installation and the tiny footprint. While the speakers are out I’m going to spray some Boom Mat Spray-on Sound deadener. I’m also adding speakers baffles to the front.
Where I sit in the van the front and barn door speakers overpower the back door speakers. I’m hoping this will balance it out some. Excited for the attempt to improve the sound. Next big upgrade will be a different sub.

Edit: another reason is low power consumption, off grid music playing.

I had to check the calendar - nope, it's not April.
I am beyond dubious about this. I could see it working if what they did was inject power on the signal line, but what they are saying....
How to be kind? There's a definite whiff I've smelled before...

These little amps sound really good. No more clipping and a lot more volume. The individual spec sheet stated 75 watts at 4 ohms and 137 at 2 ohm.

Next up JL audios 500w 2-8’s. The box is pretty small and should fit behind the couch cushion out of sight.

I use powered monitors at home (individual amp in each speaker). They are fantastic.. perfect for near-field listening. Yes I'd think this kind of design would work well for car audio as well.

I can see the benefit of these in limited situations but I would consider them only if I couldn’t get a traditional mobile audio amp with better specs to work. For my situation and at that price point I wouldn’t be satisfied they only had line-level inputs (ie no RCA pre-amp level inputs) and relatively high THD distortion rating (1% THD). Also the freq response is average at best.

Not sure how old you are, but these are not the USA made Fosgates from the 80s-90s, this is a poor quality chinese zombie brand. See also Nakamichi, Polaroid, Soundstream, etc...

This JL Audio ACP208LG-W3v3 is a 500-watt dual 8" powered subwoofer. It fits perfectly in the recessed spot behind the cushion. The sub is installed in picture with the cushion. Iím really happy with this sub!
