My bad, needed to post more info...

It is also clipped to back of a seat. I'm sure it could be modified to any use.

The item is very sturdy, but the plastic tray cosmetically looks cheap.

For $10 great deal

Just busting your chops Marty.

"Please return your tray tables to the upright and locked position." No, I don't fly too much.

This is probably not quite what you're looking for, but I went with the very smallest computer I could find and rolled my own mount with a security-camera swivel mount screwed to the top of the doghouse and some thin sheet aluminum.

Laptop

I often bring my laptop with us on our trips, but don't have a dedicated mount that your looking for. As we don't access it for data while driving, we mostly prop it up in the back for the kids to watch movies.

What we do have, which is slick, is component inputs to our van's stereo system that will play the audio from the laptop. Therefore you can watch movies, or in our case some homemade mountain biking videos, with the sound amplified through the stereo speakers....good set up.

Does anyone have experience with Jotto Desk or Ram Vehicle Laptop tray mounts?

These seem to be the best overall dsigns, but I am worried that they both might restrict the passenger seat from swiveling.

They both talk like they allow laptop access for the driver seat when needed.

Hi Greg,
Sorry I haven't had time to take a photo of the laptop table I made. I didn't work on the van all week as planned. I will still try to show you becuase I think you will want to consider it before you make a decision. If the doghouse is the same as the 2005 (which I have) I can even send you the cardboard template I made if I can find it.

Speaking to RAM products, I use one for my rear monitor and it is very well made. I use a swing arm that allows the 19" monitor to cantilever over the counter. I think their products are top quality. I will shoot a picture of that too.

I will try to do it early this week.

Greg I'm using the Ram universal mount. SMB mounted it through the dog house (06) via the 202 ball and a connecting arm. Depending how large your computer is dictates access to the radio (I don't use the second swing arm) and may have to be moved while spinning the passenger seat around, but I don't have to remove the computer. The front cup holders are blocked. There is a ton of ways to mount up a computer with Ram products, but I didn't want a mount coming off the floor...my choice at the time. The one I have in my work vehicle is a much better mount but fits a tough book only. It bolts to the floor using an extendable steel tower, has real bearing swivels, is lockable and is heavy duty metal rather than plastic. All the electronics run through a rear port so no wires running all over the place, a really nice option. But a tough book is expensive!

Laptop

I made a aluminum flat plate mount ( cut holes for drinks) and velcroed to the dog house, then velcroed the laptop to that. That makes it easy to remove.

Greg,
I finally took some photos for you. sorry for the delay.

Side profile:

Front profile table only. Note that it is made out of wood and spray painted to match my interior, 3 coats or so:

Front profile with laptop. The table was made to fit my laptop (a very small IBM Thinkpad). It still allows me to get from the driver seat to the rear:

I first made a template out of cardboard and tape. I made sure to keep two cupholders. I use velcro to hold the laptop. It also lets me put maps and other items on it.
