Hey Len, thatís a great idea....but, it looks like your springs could use some more tension on them, that thing should pop up on itís own at least 1/2 way up. The process has been documented, a bit involved in taking up a few links on the chain on each side, but well worthwhile.

It would if I didn't have three 100 watt solar panels on the roof and 30# side awning.
I do not want to increase the spring load that would also increase the stress on the scissor bolts. If some day I rework the scissor joint to make it more robust I probably would. The failure rate of the joint as manufactured just seems to high to me. As far as I know SMB has never done anything to improve the design.
