There are multiple GPS apps that work without cell service and use downloaded maps. Gaia s mentioned. For android, OSMAnd+ and Locus Pro work well.

I am interested in seeing any setups of the new flat Starlink on a pop top. As anyone seen a setup like that yet?

Here’s a link of a person mounting the HP dish on a roof rack. Haven’t seen where a dish was mounted on a pop top. You could be the first!

Confirming others:
I have Gaia for all planning/ navigation (my phone, wife’s phone, “emergency tablet”).

inReach Mini for emergency communication.
With the cheapest subscription you can send 3 preset messages unlimited with location data (set up via webbrowser). I have something like “all good, in time”, “delayed, but all good” and “need mechanical help”.
For medical emergencies I’d use the SOS button ;-)

I use a Garmin Montana 750i GPS unit which has the InReach circuitry built in to it. Very easy and fast sending texts with it no matter where in the outback I'm located. And the Garmin 700 series GPS units do a really good job as far as GPS is concerned.
