J.S., Your concept has left me contemplating possibilities (somewhat dangerous these days!).
What would be beneficial (more so in the wake of growth with your App), would be integration of 'alerting members' within close proximity of any initiated SOS's.

Possibilities might be:
***One could elect to receive an update identifying other users in the area (for some this may provide a level of comfort). Admittedly, In a popular area I can see this becoming somewhat annoying, so maybe you simply bill this feature as an optional 'added layer of potential assistance' which exists when someone subscribes to your App
***Or, maybe subscribe to be contacted ONLY if an SOS has been initiated by someone in ones general location (If an SOS is activated, other users in the general area would be alerted for potential response - not to suggest every subscriber would be obligated or even expected to get involved.... I simply believe most people would make an effort).
I know some Satellite communicators are available & designed to operate with Groups, but this function would just expand that concept based on what YOUR real-time tracking system reflects concerning current active members.
