Why am I always logged out

I have tried several times to post and am receiving a message I am not logged in. So I do log in and again attempt to post . After spending considerable time typing my post then submitting I am told again I am not logged in and my post is lost. This has happened multiple times. What am I to do?

I had that same issue several years ago. Turned out I had my browser set to block cookies. Once I changed it to accept cookies the problem went away.

Thanks for the tip but I just checked and the block cookies setting is already off.

Otterboy, same thing happens to me whenever I spend too long composing my post(s). My workaround is to copy what I type before hitting the "Post Reply" button. That way when I receive the dreaded "You're Not Logged In" I can just log back in and paste my previous copied text in a new message. Certainly not preferable to a real fix, but it works (if I remember to do it).

I do what Steve C does above. That's the most robust approach.

The other way is to log in, get stuck on the white screen, go back a couple of pages and hope your text is still there. I do this when I forget to copy the text before logging in after timing out.

I also have always done what Steve C and Boywonder do. The whole "save your work periodically" exercise gives me a warm reminiscent feeling of using technology in the '90s. Ahhhh yes, the 90's.

OtterBoy,

Ditto what SteveC, BoyWonder, and ShuttlePilot have said (sigh). There doesn't seem to be any other good way around this limitation, as it's inherent in the design of this (admittedly "free") forum that we all love and use.

On the sign-in page I always try to check the box ‘Remember Me’. That keeps me logged in longer. If I’ve composed a big thread though, I still save before submitting.
