Re: 97 E150 Conversion Mark III -- 4x4 camper van

Looks perfect, any changes in the total investment to get it finished?

No I still have the other tires and rims but after I sell them for 500 it will probably be a wash. Still adding stuff though. So the cost will probably keep climbing. It is a running driving vehicle at this point for less than 5k though.

Looks awesome!!! I'm planning on going this same route. I ordered a kit from Derek just waiting on it to arrive.

Re: 97 E150 Conversion Mark III -- 4x4 camper van

Thanks for the comments everyone. Now to refine everything and make it as stable as possible on the road. I added the f350 swaybar to the rear. ( had to fab some link mounts ) modified the e150 sway bar for the front. Im happy with the rear setup but not the front. I'd like something a little beefier. The e150 is about 1 1/8 but I'd like something from an RV or something up front. The f350 front sway bar looks like it is smaller in diameter than the e150 .

Abs and brake light were both on because I haven't hooked up the sensors. i was waiting on ebay sensors from china. 20 bucks. I did not know what to expect when ford is asking 160 for them each and the Chinese can do it for 20. The look like pretty good quality and both lights are off now. FYI you have to use sensors from a 99-2004 F250-f350 to be compatible with a 97 e150 ABS.

Ripped out the old radio and added and amp with Bluetooth. This way I can just play music off of any phone or tablet that has Bluetooth.

JWA, thanks I'll try to keep everyone up to date and document what I can to help others.

jovibuilt, post a link to your build if you don't mind. I like to watch your progress. As far as transfer case I will probably go with a nv271 or something that is compatible with a 4r75w transmission so far i am pretty happy with the 4.6. Has more power with the 3.73's than I thought it would .

thestoneman, cool man, post a link so I can keep up. Let me know if you have any questions. Derek is probably the best source for info on this coil over setup.

86Scotty,
Not started a build yet.Still sourcing my drive train.So far I have a dana 60 from a 04 F350 and a 271 manual shift from a 99 F250.And a set of 37 12.50 mtr's on a set of 16.5 x 10 wheels.This coming weekend I am supposed to pick up a 10.5 from a 03 excursion.I will start a build thread when I start getting my ujoint kit in.

that's the first 8 lug E150 I ever saw. exceptional job for such a low cost of money.

Re: 97 E150 Conversion Mark III -- 4x4 camper van

Thanks Bbasso, the best thing about going 8 lug was the brakes. Way better stopping power now.

jovibuilt, that is one of the funnest parts, collecting the parts. sounds like a good setup, just curious, why 16.5 x 10 wheels?

Decided to skip using a radio and going with a tablet -> bluetooth -> amp -> speakers for music and navigation.

here is a holder I built out of some scrap stainless
