Floor Trim Product Suggestions

Just completed the bulk of our flooring by laying vinyl on our plywood subfloor.

Looking for suggestions on products for trim on the side door, back door, and transition to cockpit. The transition area is the least of my concerns as that could be any number of 'threshold' style trim pieces. Thinking of some sort of U shaped trim for the back and side. The plywood and vinyl together is exactly 15mm or 9/16".

I have always used residential threshold for that as well. I believe once I used simple aluminum angle, which is essentially the same except thicker and beefier.

Sportsmobile usually rolls coin/lincoin type flooring over the edge of the ply and that is the threshold. Most more modern converters uses some style of aluminum angle or residential threshold.

If I were you I would take a close look at some of the higher end converter's gallery pics and see if you can find something that strikes your fancy. Benchmark Vehicles, Outside Vans, maybe even Earthroamer.

1” Aluminum angle is what I used on my remodel, held down with black flat head screws. I used 220 grit sandpaper on it for a desired look, some of the angles were tricky depending on your flooring detail, I used a mitre saw and pieces of 2X4 to block up the aluminum when cutting, I found a wider threshold trim at HD for the carpet/floor transition up front that worked and cut it to size.

On my last floor, I just rolled the vinyl over the edge of the plywood because I often enter the van by placing my knee on the floor and the vinyl is much softer than a hard metal strip. Additionally, the corners are much softer.

I ordered some Trim-Lok 5/8" vinyl edge that should wrap around the end of the floor nicely. I post some pics in my build thread when done. Trim-Lok is a bit pricey, but I happened to find a 25' piece on eBay for a great price.
