Thanks for the reply. If I use the method as linked it will be bolted down in a secure sealed airtight box to keep it from moving about at any point and time. Also as I mentioned, while traveling, it would be stored in the Aluminess box on the back of the van when underway. In addition to that there would be an exhaust valve in the floor in the box when it is in the van, to ensure that any venting or overflow leave the cabin. Or i just buy a damn tank and put that under the van with the onboard air and house battery....

However, I do appreciate all types of insight. this was what I asked for. Ill keep you all informed when I figure out what I have decided... this is on "the list" all opinions are always welcome.

If you plan to carry the bottle in the Aluminess box, why not just leave it there and run a hose with quick disconects into the van? Hook it up when you need it and leave it disconnected when you don't.

Propane Locker

Marine regulation requires that propane tanks be located inside a sealed and vented locker. This is what we did in our van: we built a sealed box which has a vent through the floor:

Fabrication and Installation write-up: Propane System | FarOutRide

We wanted a regular BBQ tank so it's easy to fill almost anywhere.

Hope that helps!
Cheers!

The Aluminess box would probably be considered sealed. Add a vent and your legal.

Garage
The National Fire Protection Association publishes the fire standard NFPA 501c, which is the fire safety standard applicable to RVs that is the basis for most legal requirements. Does anyone have a copy? Copies can be had for $31.00, but I haven't sprung for one yet.
