Re: Interesting van on Ebay: armored with CCV top

Bullet proof glass, armor plating, but no Kevlar behind the pop-top canvas?

Maybe they got the wrong idea when they heard about "Bulletproofing a 6.0 Diesel"?

I just realized, you probably can't open a single window downstairs, and the CCV top ventilation is blocked by the roof. It would be a death trap if you went in the water!

Re: Interesting van on Ebay: armored with CCV top

I still don't get why this is for sale to non-CA residents only.

It has the (expired, but the pictures may be old) temporary tag. The CA DMV shows that it passed smog. What other than smog could prevent a sale in CA while not also preventing a sale to out of state?

Perhaps it was driven around with expired tags for a year and the only issue is back fees?

Maybe some CA laws don't protect out-of-staters?

Certainly, the seller is responsible to pass Smog for a sale within CA.

Re: Interesting van on Ebay: armored with CCV top

It's back, with no reserve this time.

If cheap enough, someone could get themselves a CCV top out of it.

Re: Interesting van on Ebay: armored with CCV top

No idea someone had started a thread here in this forum about the van. This is my rig. Quite a hilarious read with all the various comments here.

For those that are curious, the prior post regarding CA law for operating armored vehicles is the reason the vehicle is being designated for sale out-of-state. The van runs fine, passed smog, etc.... The van had been outside of CA for almost a year...only ran into this CA armored vehicle issue when bringing it in-state. Too bad as I've come to like the CCV top quite a bit.

But for those BOV folks who are not in CA....you know you want it.
