Does it not fit into the normal crankcase or did I order the correct gasket?

That seal probably goes on the other end of the axle tube.....inside the differential housing....that's where the sealing happens on a Dana 60.

for me it's a dust seal No. 90
the gasket which makes it waterproof and securely in place No. 32

Some people argue that those seals trap water in the axle tube and promote rust. I've ran many vehicles without them and never had an issue.

Can you post a picture of seal #32?

The seal that you are holding in your hand in the picture above looks like seal #32.

You may be right about the fact that the humidity remains trapped.
