I had “the luck” to help a friend waterproofing his RV loft bed and we disassembled the whole outer filon shell, replaced the wooden boards, reattached the trims and also resealed the windows.
For the windows we took them out, removed the old butyl from the window frame and RV shell and replaced it. Stupid monotonous work, but you want a clean surface.
We also added another layer of Sikaflex to create a nice fillet where the water isn’t getting collected and will nicely flow over the edge.
He also had a slight problem with the drainages but we have been able to clean them out enough to have no flow stop using a garden hose. We soaked it in water, used and wire to poke into the holes and eventually used the compressor to blow some stuff out. Doing it repeatedly helped.
All his trim screws were heavily corroded if not already broken. So we used stainless when assembling it and we added a drop if Sikaflex into every whole before the screw came in. Afterwards we professionally used our finger as applicator to seal the screw again after tightening it. More or less “a blob on top”.
Doesn’t help with the felt, but perhaps give some ideas.
Looking forward seeing some pics how you did it!
