Well then have a few Shiner Bocks on me (or rather, in my honor since you are in my home town and I'm now in the PNW).

In your honor then! ...and then some! So where at in Orygun? I helped some friends move up to Oregon City and ended upstaying for about 10yrs...but playtime was over and now I'm back where I belong. The PNW is a whole other world compared to South Texas.

I'm in the Gorge-ish area. Actaully, the Gorge designation ends at our county line. Suits me just fine in case I can ever get property above the Columbia to build on. Dad and the rest live in Blanco, TX to your north. Stayed there one night on the way back to OR with my new-to-me Sporty a couple of weeks back. Texans from way back (ancestor died in the Alamo).

Galley Box
(Make absolutely sure) That the dimensions are for the opening on the Galley/Generator Box to easily allow the Honda Generator into the compartment as my 3 month old unit dose not , without much maneuvering and one broken finger . All this after two phone calls prior to the actual build When I contacted Aluminess I was told that I could pay extra to upgrade to the newer model in six weeks as they don't fabricate the boxes in house but sub them out . I have since had to notch the seal flange to get the Honda into the box . I would measure , measure before taking delivery of my vehicle just to make sure , I can see no reason that you should have to lay the Generator on it's side and maneuver it back and forth at 9000 feet in a Snow Storm to get it back into the box that was supposedly made for it.

Well it sounds like this warrants another call to Aluminess for an actual measurement of the opening. I was told the generator would fit but it sounds like from your first hand experience that it's going to be a "hard fit" so to speak. You know, it can be a little aggravating sometimes when little details such as that are left out when talking to a salesperson over the phone....and then you find out after the fact. Greggde....thanks for taking the time to point that out to me.
I really hate surprises...of that sort!

Ric,
The next time you come to Austin, you may look at my box. It's the front opening galley/generator box and it holds a Honda 2000 generator fine. The only thing you've got to watch when inserting the generator is to not catch either of the 2 strain relief cables for the door. Once the generator is inside the box, there's actually extra room on each side as well as front to back. I cut some blocks of high density foam to place around the generator to make sure it doesn't slide around.

Galley Box
Oh how sweet that must be ! To actually have a box that only needs a little consideration for the door support cable's . And you didn't even have to pay extra for what you originally specified and payed for .

JR,
I just may take you up on that offer. I talked to Paul at the Austin SMB and told him of my concerns so nix the Baja Box and we got the Galley/Generator Box to go. I saw your box on one of your previous post...very nice! My mind is a little more at ease now.
UM...Greggde...Knowing what you went through with your box I almost feel bad talking about this in front of you....almost. (just kidding)

Ric,
Remember there is also another Aluminess box purpose built for carrying a Noda 2000,... AND if you ar ein the Austin area, you can swing by and see it at SMB.... once there, well, you cant miss it ! (it can also be seen earlier in this thread)
Have you talked to Aluminess about this? They were very helpful when I called them up a couple of times.
