Check your Battery Isolator

I was doing some off-season maintenance and ran across a very deteriorated battery isolator. It was the original Sure Power 1602. The terminals were fused together with rust and the top had big crack in it. Surprisingly it still worked but who knows for how much longer. If you have the original isolator it might be a good time to check it. Mine was located under the antifreeze overflow tank. It was pretty easy to replace.

Did you replace it with another diode-based isolator or with a more modern form of isolation/separation? Here's a link to a thread on the different forms of battery isolators and separators:

I replaced it with the same isolator. I considered upgrading but decided to keep it as is. If I went down the path of a different isolator, I would have needed to upgrade my wiring from the house battery to the isolator and from the isolator to the starting battery. I can always do this in the future. The replacement isolator was only $70 so not a big loss if I decide to upgrade down the road.
