Re: Door locks
Psomaki,
I too briefly thought about the film but thought in an accident you may not be able to use the doors. I carry a glass breaker on my doghouse. However, if you use the film it may be very difficult to exit the vehicle.

Like driving into a lake and needing to break the glass to get out.

Re: Door locks
Well I don't carry a glass hammer so I guess it's moot and the film won't do any harm.

Re: Door locks
The Badgers always left a lock on the rear doors, precisely so if a miscreant slapped locks on all of them while they were out there would always be a way into the van.
However, in such a crisis situation, try not to panic and remember that
...you can roll down the windows.

Re: Door locks
I saw an earthroamer last week that had some nice looking twin-door locking mechanisms. They were made by earthroamer. but cam easily be duplicated and applied to a SMB. Sorry, no picture, but I'll bet it's on their site.

Re: Door locks
Well, I just talked with Overlandhardware about the hasp and lock combo. He said they're no longer making them because there just wasn't the demand for them. Bummer, the search continues. I hate feeling so paranoid, but I've heard many stories about vehicles being broken into at remote trailheads, and it's happened to me twice. There are some pretty desparate people out there.
Master Lock makes a rather large hasp/lock system but it's not very attractive, Badger used a modified version of it.

Re: Door locks
I talked to the guy at Overland Hardware also and told him about the Forum and suggested he register as a vendor and maybe get enough interest to make enough for a group buy. He said he would check it out.

Re: Door locks
Thanks for the interest in my hasp / lock system guys! However, Flyfisher & Skywagon are correct...I am "standing down" on the offering of the hasps for the time being. Mostly because of lack of interest ( some people seem to take issue to drilling holes in they're big $$$ expedition rigs) and most importantly because I'm involved in the design and development of a device that will have a much greater appeal to adventurers. I'll post about it (in the correct vendor location) when I'm ready to offer it to the public.
Kind regards
Joaquin Suave
