Modified/Custom Doghouse Tops? Looking for ideas

The storage area on the doghouse is pretty outdated in my 2002.

I mean still need cupholders I guess but would like make it a little more modern and updated.

Looking for ideas/inspiration to build something.

Post your pics please

Try the updated style.

If you don't like that one try tracking down any one of the 5 or so designs over the years that all fit. Any one from 97 up will fit.

I‘m all ears! Also can‘t really profit from the regular design and was thinking about building an own box reaching a bit between the seats, perhaps a top you can tilt up/ open,…integrating compressor/ locker switches,…

Looking forward to see if someone has done an own custom design

I'm looking at a couple of the different variations to change what came in my '05 (wood RV one). Are these more useful in day to day life than the earlier ones?

Yes and no, IMO. My 09 has the last/latest variant that I linked above. It is better for stuff but not as good for cups since you can only do 2, or 3 if you include the little third one which only fits a regular size water bottle. It was actually meant for an ash tray that was an option. Also, it's not as easy to get your legs/feet around this one to move to the back of the van.

Below is my favorite one but it won't really match my newer dash so I'm sticking with what I've got. If cup holders are most important to you this is the best one.

Ah, hadn't seen that one yet. My previous '05 had a version of that with a 2nd lower storage compartment that went all the way to the floor. Made swiveling around it a little extra challenging, and if there was a transfer case shifter on the floor, I'd imagine it'd be extra tough.

I've always been kind of interested in all the different doghouse consoles there are for these vans. If I ever get to it I'll do a thread of all the ones I know of. There are a lot of them. I can think of 6 or 8 off the top of my head for 97 up vans.

Some have interesting and mostly unknown features. One feature of most all of them is that you can easily remove them and hide stuff behind them. Wallet, small firearm, small purse and even bigger things will fit some of them. No one would ever think to look there, until some jack ass says this out loud on the internet.........
