Mouse in the gray water tank
We had been high up in the White River National Forest in Colorado for many days. On the way out we stopped to drain the gray water tank. It ran a short time, then the outlet clogged. I used a stiff steel wire with a hook bent into the end to snag the debris and pull it out. It was hard to remove until it tore apart, and then it was so mangled it was hard to identify. Eventually we saw it was a mouse.
The top of the tank has a PVC vent pipe with a 90 degree angle and a 1 inch inside diameter. We're pretty sure that's the way the mouse got in there. Now I have it covered with some netting that was sold to tie around a washing machine's water outlet tube. I'd like to glue a PVC cap onto the vent pipe with holes drilled to allow some flow, but it might be a bit restricted. Anything would be better than a repeat experience like that. See the attached photo.

Re: Mouse in the gray water tank
My (and most SMB's I've seen) has a metal grate cover over the grey water vent.

Re: Mouse in the gray water tank
My drain doesn't look like that. Is that a Sportsmobile build?

Re: Mouse in the gray water tank
Just jam some steel wool in the pipe...the mice can't eat it and the pipe can still vent. I do it to my snowmobile mufflers to keep em from building a nest inside.

Re: Mouse in the gray water tank
Not steel wool, it will rust up quickly... use the copper stuff.

You mean pot scrubbers or is there a "copper steel wool" out there?

Re: Mouse in the gray water tank
Pot scrubbers, at least they won't rust. Still if it's done the way mine is other than a little bug I can't see how a mouse could get in other than if the valve was left open.
