This story has gotten me thinking about my own security system... I have the factory anti-theft module with the key fob. There is a switch on the hood that will set if off if it is pried open. But if I use the key (with no chip) it is worthless. Subsequently if the lock cylinder gets jacked there is no stopping the thieves, from my understanding. My choices are getting an aftermarket system, which complicates things, and increases the chances of more things that can go haywire. Or creating a kill switch on either the fuel pump circuit or coil circuit. It sure would be nice to know that when I got back from a hike that my van would still be there....

Very lucky owners indeed and happy to see them recover their rig and kids dolls.

Same as wadewaydo I know I need to do something and Ravelco seems perfect but I'd be afraid of losing the "key". Probably a couple hidden pressure switches for fuel and/or spark would be enough. I'm racing in Portland next weekend for Rose Cup so this theft has my attention...

The Ravelco comes with two plugs. They give you a separator keychain as well. I tossed the separator keychain and used double-sided tape to stick a retractable zinger to the back of my key fob. Now I can't lose the plug or accidentally leave it in the van.
