As the previous proud owner of three AMC's (Hornet, (2) Eagles) I take exception to that remark. Unless we're talking about the Pacer. That was one fugly car.

WV, don't you never, ever forget them Matadors when you're tryin' to convince us how purdy your AMCs were... oh, and them post-5 mph-bumpered Gremlins Dang, I'm feelin' a little nauseous now... take two Nissans and, well, don't ever call me back

I think Americans will buy them simply because they are not American made. Sad.

Re: Sportsmobile posts photo of 2011 Nissan Conversion
I wonder whether the OP in this thread was posting pics of the van SMB is building for him. I notice he hasn't posted since then

When I talked to Alan Feld last fall, he seemed certain no more E series would be built after 2014. Have you seen some more up to date news releases by Ford?

Union contract was extended through 2015. But I also read speculation that Ford may move the F650/750 production there and end the Navistar joint venture in Mexico, which means they probably expect less E-series volume.
Plus, the Ranger has been "in its last year" for about 8 years now. Took about 10 years to Ford to kill the Crown Victoria. Remember it's replacement the Ford 500? Nope? Neither does anyone else (the 500 did evolve into the current Taurus though)

I kind of figured it was a show vehicle, like my van back in the day or the orange Toyo tires van- kind of a speculation build to discover issues and say "we build these, here is one".
And generally I appreciate fugly and strange things (FC Jeeps for example) but this... crime against the word design...
But I did wonder how the first people to show up with a Nissan "van" would be received after this thread. But honestly I think they'd be received with open arms, just as much as anyone with the right attitude whatever they drive, own or plan to.

Re: Sportsmobile posts photo of 2011 Nissan Conversion
reviving an old thread.
curious what others' think of this new Nissan NV200 Van.
Due out in early 2013
It has front wheel drive and I think the gas engine gets 25mpg.
Of course the Euro version with a diesel engine gets something like 50+ but we won't go there
http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_shows ... irst_look/
http://www.nissancommercialvehicles.com ... .245852937
I kind of like it for a day trip to the beach, weekend camper and around town use for just two people.
small enough to fit in the garage and park easily but with lots of cargo space.
I wonder if SMB can add a poptop for extra head room and a loft for sleeping.
And if they could what something like that would cost.
thanks

Re: Sportsmobile posts photo of 2011 Nissan Conversion
Well like its bro, I think it would look silly with a hard top. I guess we're all going to have to accept the euro looking vehicles that are being forced down our throats. But I agree it does look better than its counterpart. Maybe someone can PS a 4x4 bumper, lift, and tires on a picture of it. Looks more like a mini van IMO
