Van for build out-is this a good deal?
looking to purchase this van this weekend, at 39,500 ish.
http://www.newbergford.com/used/ford-ec ... 18004.html
2010 with 9000 miles, no nav, bluetooth, otherwise loaded up wagon. im planning on smb putting in the pop top this summer and then waiting on doing a 50 or 42 plan next summer or when i can afford it.
im fine with the v8 ( ive driven both and will not be towing anything over 4000lbs very rarely ) and i hear good things about quadvan ride, etc. im 45 min from smb west so i can have work done there easily, and may chip away at it.
i have little kids and like the shoulder belts and bench seats for now. also the rear a/c can be adapted to the new floorplan someday, so thats worth a few bucks i suppose.
anyway, any input/thoughts are appreciated, thanks, jas

I think 39ish is a little high, only because I think (don't know for sure) that the 4x4 conversion is worth about 15k new. That leaves 24k for the van and I think that is too much. But if the conversion is worth more, then maybe it's in the ballpark. I don't think the van in 2wd is worth more than 20k.

Really? For a 2010? A new van with those option in 2wd retails around 38k. To find one below 20k you'd have to go back to an '08 I think, or maybe a high-mile '09.
I think it's a decent deal.

I agree w/carringb... good deal at $39500ish. Has the dealer agreed to that price?

Re: Van for build out-is this a good deal?
it seemed like a good price to me, he actually quoted me 39891, no b.s. , nice guy, been good to deal with, he even held it for me a couple days, then i let it go being too busy to get up there.. i had a crazy week and had intended to buy it tomorrow but have to get my ducks in a row.
thinkin hard right now....

Re: Van for build out-is this a good deal?
I just got a 2wd 2009 E250 cargo with 400 miles for $20,000. It was loaded too. Not sure if the passenger vans go higher. You have to look hard and be patient to find them cheap.
Newberg Ford finds good used vans and sends them to Quadvan for conversion.

A new XLT wagon is about $7000 more than a base cargo van.
I have only heard good things about Newberg Ford.
BTW - I have seen QuadVan list 4-yr old passenger 4x4 vans for $40,000 and they always sell.

I guess that knowing what Quadvan charges for a conversion on a RSC van would be helpful. Then there is the value of convenience in buying a converted van as opposed to having to arrange it, maybe taking time off work. I'm really surprised at what you guys think these vans are worth used. I'm feeling really good about what I paid for mine.

For what its worth, we picked up our 2wd 2009 E350 6.0 Cargo van for around $30,000 and it only had 37 miles on it.

Re: Van for build out-is this a good deal?
The Van with a gas motor is worth $26500 the 4x4 unit is 10-12 grand. The hassle of not having to look any more or get the 4x4 done yourself $2500.
Put that together sounds like a good deal, if this is what you are looking for, but if you settling for something you just kinda like then i would keep looking and buy one completely done.
It always cost more to have it built if you can find one built the way you want it you'll save money unless you do it yourself.
