I see a lot of Amp Research steps on sprinter conversions. They buy the jeep length and cut them down. Its a pretty expensive but great looking solution.

Sorry to hear that it worked out that way. I hope you guys get a big van someday that isn't a fixer upper! Its already is a ton of work to do a camper conversion without any base vehicle problems.
