Re: Quigley and QuadVan - FOX Shox Ride Improvement Package

The before and after shots are not that dramatic because the van only sits about 3/4" higher. Here are a few shots.

Looks good. I can notice a difference in the wheel well. I'm excited to get my kit. Are you running 33" tires? And what engine?

Tires are 315/70-17 or almost 35". Have the 6.0 diesel that (knock on wood) has been trouble free aside from a turbo rebuild due to frozen vanes and bed plate leak both covered under warranty.

Nice! So mine may sit a little taller with the v10. I'm running 33" tires and want a little more wheel well.

Re: Quigley and QuadVan - FOX Shox Ride Improvement Package

Switchfoot - what kind of trim work did you need to do on your fenders to clear the 315s on your Quigley? Did Baja's new taller coils help out with clearance and do you have the stock Quigley arms?

Still leaning towards something a bit larger and meatier than the 285/75/16s on my current setup.

Thx!

Re: Quigley and QuadVan - FOX Shox Ride Improvement Package

Totally stock 2007 Quigley setup. Ramsey noticed a bunch of things on my front suspension he hadn't seen on other Quigleys, so it sounds like they make a lot of changes on the production line. Maybe mine is the oddball that doesn't have clearance issues with 315s.

When we bought our van, Quigley told me the biggest tires they recommend were 285 (or 33" diameter). I've run 315s since the van was new and never had any issues with rubbing or clearance. The back bottom of the front fender wells were cut back a bit when the Bushwacker flares were mounted so that no doubt helped. The rear tires will rub the front bottom of the fender flare if flexed a bunch off road.

The logical choice for a heavy van that will never be a rock crawler is 33" tires - less expensive, less weight, better clearance, and better braking and fuel mileage. Of course I made the illogical choice of going bigger, but honestly have no regrets. The additional diameter is a benefit off road and in deep snow. I've got 54,000 miles on this set of tires and there is still a lot of tread left. Far exceeded my expectations.

To be honest, it would be best to have all of the fender wells trimmed back for more clearance. Agile Offroad did that for an older Sportsmobile that will run 37" tires. I remember somebody on the forum posting about their new Sportsmobile running 35" tires that got stuck in the sand in Baja and ripped both front fender flares completely off. That would be a huge bummer, especially on a brand new $100k vehicle.

If you are upsizing tires, it would be beneficial to buy from a shop that will let you swap if the bigger ones don't fit.

Re: Quigley and QuadVan - FOX Shox Ride Improvement Package

It looks like I might be moving the RIP kit up the list of things that need to be done. I notice that between 55 mph and 60 mph I have a wobble. Has anyone seen an improvement in this with the RIP kit? Its a 2003 Quigley with the Dana 60 from a K30. I don't want to spend money twice. I have a message out to Ramsey about this.

Re: Quigley and QuadVan - FOX Shox Ride Improvement Package

More than likely your issue has more to do with worn bushings, tie rods or are due to replace your ball joints, but I can't say enough good things about the RIP kit, but doubt that it will help with your wobble, that is unless the oscillation stems from a worn out shock. What shocks are you running currently? How old? Original?
