Great pictures. Great report. Sorry to hear of your mechanical problems, but it just makes you feel all the more blessed when your rig runs properly.

honestly, whenever i hear people talking about going to gtnp, its always followed by after we go to yellowstone. i think most people assume they can see everything in both parks in 1 day. we all know thats not really possible, but for the mainstream, let them keep believing it. most people are so tired from ynp that by the time they get to gtnp, all they do is stop at the easy stops on the way through trying to beat the sunset.

...and yes. i need to spend some quality summer time in gtnp. most my trips over that way dont get me past the teton pass, but i was able to talk the group into a day trip to slide lake last march.

Inspiring pictures!

So what rig in your signature did you drive during this trip? BTW, if it was a diesel, the symptoms are classic fuel tank delam. symptoms (which I too experienced on an ID trip). If it is a diesel and you still have your old fuel pump, I would be happy to disect it for you and post pictures...

Rusty is the only van I have. 1995 E350 SMB, 460 gas. I don't have the old pump, but it's a gas van anyway.

Awesome trip report and pics, 86Scotty. I am looking forward even more to getting back to the Tetons and Winds on a cross-country trip I will be taking in a few weeks.

Re: Rusty rides again..........mostly

Great trip report and pictures. Sorry I didn't get to the Tetons while you were there. It would be good to see you and Kristie again. As a matter of fact, I haven't been out in the YURT since early spring and that was Yellowstone! This may be the longest duration that I've not spent a weekend in the Tetons.
I've been backpacking quite a bit with a friend and have left the SMB at home. I hope to change that this weekend and stay at Shadow Mountain and get the kayaks in the water at the Oxbow or Two Ocean. Maybe I'll take the forest service road past Pacific Creek all the way to the end and check out the campground you mentioned.

Glad your trip was successful despite the issues. And did I read where this was a 20 year anniversary trip? Congratulations!

Come back out west again and I'll make sure to meet you at the Snake River Brewery. It's also one of my favorite places in town.

Mike

Re: Rusty rides again..........mostly

Thanks Mike. We drove over to Two Ocean lake. It was a stormy, misty afternoon and deserted. Very pretty though. The CG at the end of Pacific Creek is certainly nothing to write home about, I just wanted to give another option to those who didn't know it was there. The boondock sites towards the end of Pacific Creek on the right are better than the CG in my opinion but take your bug spray! While we were there just looking around the mosquitos were brutal.
