My solution is to never buy their products again.

I am glad you didn't have to use it, that wouldn't last long at all.

I have never had a shovel mounted on any vehicle before but that said anything that shakes, vibrates, rattles or makes any kind of noise while driving is causing wear to something. I have seen all kinds of things wear out from being loose even on cars that only drive on smooth (not California type) roads. Once I even saw a bolt that was rolling around for years wear a hole completely through the sheet metal in a lower quarter panel. It is why on race cars, airplanes and boats everything is secured so well.

Nothing will wear even on bumpy roads if it doesn't move around while driving. Whatever you can do to stop it will work.

Re: Aluminus shovel problem

I,m with Toolman! Seems like a lot of their products have significant design issues. For that kind of money it should not require duct tape, stick on rubber, ect to make it function properly.

Aluminus shovel problem

New expedition kit uses single lock, almost no play and its less $$$. I love all their products tho a bit pricey.

Has anyone bothered to call aluminess for a fix?

My personal first hand experiance is 100% positve from Aluminess

They spend a TON of design time on my roof rack
Did not charge me for it

My custom baja box was only a few pennys more than standard

They installed my RotoPac no charge

On my last visit, they spent close to two hours checking
all mounting for rack and bumpers
Installed the hi lift mounts no charge ( i bought the mounts)
and installed the older style swing arm holder opener things no charge (i paid for hardware)

I am fairly certain they will make it right

Why not someone email them your pics and post response here?

Aluminus shovel problem

I'll 2nd what bill Wilson said. Great service. You tell em a problem your having with their product and kenny will get right on it.

They won't charge you for every nut and bolt and prorate labor charges for every 1/4 hr like SMB West does. Ask me how I know.

Aluminus shovel problem

I got one of these years ago, stow it inside the van, seems well built, have not used it extensively to comment on durability or any issues.
