My son uses blog sites for his DIY vehicle repair. So just searched sportsmobile blog and it came up. I too visit almost daily. Still looking to get another one after selling a previous one. I am not mechanical or tech savvy but like reading and wishing. Fun to hear how capable and thoughtful the members are. Interesting, sense of community at a distance.

Almost a year ago , I began looking around for bigger vehicle to sleep in for art trips... Quickly became obvious a van is more useful than a truck. Then I did a nation wide google search to gauge pricing for camper vans, and came across the Jackson Hole Ski guy's white dually - instant infatuation with E350's/SMB clean lines! Friends at work used to call me Radar because I could locate any equipment online fast.... I hunted around to see if his dually SMB pricing was legit and found the link to his ad on this forum-
I know that sounds like a convoluted path, but I'm so glad I found my way here!

I'll take space over style

For me, Minivan trumped SUV (more useful space)
Now, van trumps pickup for the same reason.

While researching Sportsmobile on the web - google.
(really like to read the different stories, trip reports,..., although I do have a modified RAM 2500 camper and no Sportsmobile )

Have lusted after Sportsmobile for years. Never quite being able to afford the finished product. Then happened on the forum site when Googling and... bam! Fell in love with the idea of a DIY build and promptly bought an E350 from a forum member. It replaced my Tacoma 4x4. Now I love walking around INSIDE my rig whenever I need something in the cold, in the rain.

Having a blast and so grateful to have found this group.

Heard about this via google search re SMB. Looked 8 years ago, and don't recall it being around. Now looking at various options for either buying or beginning the build process. Presently have VW Eurovan with 251 and weekender (pop-top/penthouse). Wife wants upgrade.
