aarcaris gave the first half of the answer. The fuel pump on 08+ vans is not compatible with their tanks. I'm sure there is a solution but you get into the weeds really fast. The second part is that Quigley shortens the OEM fuel tank and Aero didn't make a shortened tank. It actually looks like they aren't making any Van tanks any more. At least I don't see them on their website any more.

Update from Quadvan: they do have a few of the 99-04 tanks on hand, but nothing newer, which is why they initially said no dice. Once they get enough interest, they can do a batch order. So if you're interested, I'd encourage you to reach out. The CARB sticker is essentially tied a larger charcoal canister, but even if you got a larger tank put the larger canister on by yourself, without the sticker you're still SOL.

Field vans is a no go, waiting to hear back from SMB since they are using the same tanks.

CARB compliance is definitely something unto itself.

I have a 35.5 gallon aluminum tank from UJoint. No complaints.

All this talk of larger tanks..... If I ever get rid of my SMB for another E series chassis, I'm pulling my transfer flow and moving it to the other rig.

I messaged hancofab and they said the tank for the van is $2,000 plus shipping. They asked for my year and drivetrain so it sounds like there may be some variables in price depending on the year/drivetrain.

I live in California, but for those who don’t, is CARB compliance really that big an issue?

No. No inspections here of any kind.

Buy it, take title to courthouse, tag it, drive it. Pay tax once when tagged, easy to get around that too on older stuff.

Tag renewal $24/yr.

Are smog stations really looking for CARB stickers on gas tanks?

Supposedly John at Quadvan had to help a few people in the past year get their CARB stickers replaced when they got power washed off or otherwise removed (since he has the connection w/ Transfer Flow). So it does appear that they are checking. Probably depends on the individual station?

Edit: also, any aftermarket CARB stickers go on the inside door jamb.
