Re: Help identifying 4WD conversion

I'm new too but joined and have to ask about the knuckle, the spacer in the middle, and how the tone ring and sensor are on there, I find it most interesting

Re: Help identifying 4WD conversion

Do I also see the rotor over the hub assembly?

Vanislevan: Are you asking JWL or Boywonder? (two different Advanced conversions with two different front axles)

Before I did my axle upgrade, I would crack a set of rotors every 6 months. With the big calipers, you'll be able to stop just fine, just more of a maintenance issue.

One a side note, I can't believe they would make an adapter like that. But.... I guess if it works....

Are there any options for fitting larger rotors to a kingpin Dana 60 axle? I understand that it would require new fabricated caliper brackets.......what other issues are there?.......I'm sure there must be a few showstoppers....

Show us a picture of your current caliper mounts.

Re: Help identifying 4WD conversion

Here are a few pics of the caliper mounts (not the easiest thing to photograph).....

The rotor dimensions are 13" diameter x 1 1/2" thick.

The caliper stands and part of the knuckle have been machined for the ABS sensor.

Is it as simple as designing and fabricating new caliper stands for the 2008+ E350 calipers and 13.5" rotors?

I would imagine if that was the case then Advanced would just re-use the stock parts.........there must be another reason.........

Re: Help identifying 4WD conversion

I would leave it alone, don't try to retrofit anything. The rotors appear to be 99-04's that have been machined for 8 on 6.5. Has Advance not been able to tell you what they are?

All kingpin 60's have a caliper stand sandwiched between the knuckle & spindle, he's had it machined to re use the stock ABS sensor for RSC friendliness. Tone ring on the hub too.

I hear you......Randy at Advanced is not very forthcoming with info sometimes.....haven't asked about the rotors.

I was just curious about why the 08+ brakes wouldn't work. So now I have another question.......How does one machine rotors that are 8 on 6.5"? You somehow order blank rotors from somewhere? I'll be bummed if I have to rely on advanced......especially when I have a bridgeport and a large rotary table for it in the garage (big enough to chuck up a couple of these rotors.

08/up truck or van rotors? 8 on 6.5 vs 8 on 170mm is very close so the holes have to be opened up.
