Responses for owning a 4x4 van???

Does everyone else, get the very mixed responses from ppl for owning a 4x4 van?

I get everything from the ppl pointing and laughing to others walking up to it and checking it out,,,, thinking it's the coolest thing since sliced bread.

I'm the type of person who likes to be a little different from the norm,,,, and where I live (Louisiana) I haven't seen any other 4x4 vans,,, yet. I know they are out there somewhere though. I just think it's funny as hell, when pulling up to a light and see ppl do the old double and triple look at it.

I've never had anyone laugh at my rig. I've only had people fawn all over it and take pictures on their cell phones, especially at auto shops. One of the things I like about having a Sportsmobile is all the gawkers. It's like owning a classic car. It's a show piece.

I guess it really depends on where you live. People in Louisiana probably don't get to see these rigs very often. We have traveled many backroads and through small towns in the middle of nowhere. We have gotten some interesting comments on occasion, all ranging from "what is that thing!" to "I've seen pictures, but not one in person", most people that approach though are familiar with sportsmobiles and most want one themselves. Never gotten laughed at though!? At least not that I know of. Although I've been, never driven the rig down to Louisiana, might have to put that on our list of roadtrips! If for nothing else, just to see peoples reaction! Always a good time.

Mine's not even 4x4, but it is built up, and LOTS of people stop to take pics. Sometimes I even catch people hanging out of their car windows on the freeway trying to snap a pic. Also, people don't doddle in the fast lane in front of me when I come up behind them in the van. Wish I could say the same for my work truck.

Out in Colorado I find that most people don't even glance at it. Out of State any direction I get a lot more looks and comments, especially in small towns from 20-30 year old males... usually the ones decked out for hunting. It's almost weird the mixed response- I've circled the van around in a parking lot to chat with a decked out SMB owner and he could have cared less that there was another SMB on the planet.

The most common question when stepping out is "That a diesel?"... do you gassers get that?

The "laughing" may be a type of startle response. More a chuckle than a laugh. More amazement than mirth

For sure, lifted vans get noticed. Mostly positive. And jealous.

But, even if they don't like it, it get noticed.

And you get to meet lots of people.

LOL! Well, me or the van,,,, I'm sure getting a fair bit of attention,,,,. Well, mostly the only people I've seen laugh or giggle are some young girls. Haven't seen any guys laugh,,, mostly just staring. Well, in Louisiana I guess people don't expect it. Most ppl ask me where I got it from or did I put a kit on myself.

In AZ, we get plenty of 'wow' looks. And many grab their phone camerasis the focus of most attention is usually the aluminess front bumper (definitely a guy thing), and of late the new matching trailer. Coming back in from Mexico is usually humorous because our border patrol guys wanna inspect for seemingly personal reasons. It's all good.

Is your van short on windows? I know some girls who are always quick to jump on a pedobear or candy van joke when they see a van with no windows, or blocked-out windows.
