JUST PRINT MORE MONEY. That way my 3 year old son, and future generations can pay and pay and pay for the rest of their lives.

Re: Rock rails - can anyone recommend?

crap - I didn't read entire thread before replying first time.
Here's my take - Doing a group buy only makes sense when it's the exact same thing for everyone.

Jessenej/all - thx for info re: Xtreme Off-road in Clovis. My RB van will be done maybe by end of March. I will go to xtreme after i pick up van and let them measure and go thru quote process. The wheelbase is same for EB/RB so one size fits all.

I plan on only getting best minimum basic rock slider, or however I should describe it after they come up with a design, and I will post on forum the results. Maybe ask them for 2 options, one without and one with an integrated lower step machined, ......... or maybe just holes drilled front and side and they design/offer seperate steps that bolt into the slider? Big ass freakin' bolts so it's fairly rugged?

Now I'm only talking a quote because i haven't decided to do it yet. The reason is that since I've started this thread, I have back-tracked a bit because these vehicles are HIGH off the ground and, honestly, there hasn't been a big outcry on the forum about body damage on our vans.

So ... I'm not convinced anymore it's necessary for me but depending on how one uses the van ..... etc .....

Re: Rock rails - can anyone recommend? Found some rock sliders!

As there was interest for Rock sliders, I share what I found.

At the OVEXPO 2010, there was a yellow SMB with special made rock sliders.

They were custom made for the owner, fastened to the body, not the frame.

I just contacted the builder an he could do more if interest. He is near Sacramento.
He is just about calculating the cost and as soon I have it I will post.

I am interested in buying them and wanted to check if there where others interested at which time we could do a group buy...
Could be available in june.

Please let me know if you could be interested. Price will be added as soon as calculated (approx 1 week he said...)

Re: Rock rails - can anyone recommend?

If its only mounted to the body I am wondering if thats strong enough or just for looks. I would go for the frame mounted if I was going to do that. I have had sliders before and that's what I did with them slid on rocks seem to me these would look good but that's all.

Re: Rock rails - can anyone recommend?

Gents, as much as I would prefer to go with sliders, nerf bars have won out for now (at least until my kids are old enough to climb in).

I agree that frame mounted would be better but on such a rig I will more likelly try to avoid the rock but if one come around , IMO these could do the job of protecting the side walls.

Also the frame mounted version would be harder to do as there is so many things hanging under these vans and almost each one is different.
