Sprinter Cold Weather Starting
Hello and thanks to everyone who hosts and maintains this very useful site!
I am taking delivery of my 2017 sprinter (4x4,150s, Penthouse top, D5) in late December; the van will live in Montana and, for the foreseeable future, will be parked outside. I will also be using the van as a daily driver and for skiing trips around the northern US and Canada with wintertime camping mixed in. We get several days each winter with temperatures in the 0 to minus 15 F realm. So I am curious about cold weather starting. The van is currently equipped with the standard equipment (auxiliary heater with fuel sender) that preheats the interior to reduce the engine load during starting but no other starting aids. We also have a D5 for the interior. I am hoping that any of you cold climate inhabitants might be willing to share your experience in this area. Do they start ok in cold weather? Many thanks!
