Hmm, so I guess when you buy a really expensive bumper it still requires modifications?

Any chance 3D printing the bushings out of a more durable filament like nylon would hold up?

I don't see why that wouldn't be possible. When the top & bottom of the wedges meet, they are designed to relieve some of the weight on the outer edges of the swing arms - this alleviates a lot of stress on the welds, and also reduces the amount of 'bounce' the structure would have to contend with.

Both halves are a pretty simple design. One mounts to the bottom of the swing arm bar (so its a little concave to match up with the curvature of the 2" aluminum tube), and the other is essentially the same size, but with the front beveled at about a 40 degree angle (so when the two meet as you close a swing arm, the top rides up onto the bottom just a little.

Yes - the installation seems to show things uneven - probably gonna stress something a bit - not good - - Add some stainless washers to level things up ?

The washers on the bottom of each hinge take a lot of weight...you could try printing nylon but picking up some Delrin rod and slicing washers may be easier.

The spacers are 1 1/4" dia black Delrin (Acetal). You can buy a short length of Delrin Rod or tube and slice off washers of any thickness. Even easier with access to a lathe.

1 1/4" dia Delrin is $10/foot from McMaster..
