PS- For all of you die hard E-Series fans (I have one myself), I was reading in a Travato forum recently and to avoid an accident, a guy almost rolled one. He said he was super impressed with the rigidity of the Promaster b/c he was almost up on two wheels and didn't feel any flex what-so-ever in the frame.
The Transit may be the same story but I cannot verify that. I do know Quigley is testing the conversion on a transit as we speak so it will be fun to see what everyone comes up with.
SCBrian, I agree. They said the Promaster will have the widest ever penthouse bed and they have 6ft of standing room with the top DOWN! That's a huge selling point.
I don't disagree. Just pulled off of the Promaster brochure==inside low roof height is 65". In the picture if you add a 12" step you wont be able to stand up in the back with the top down. I'm wondering if some of the house systems are in the floor because of the low floor height (not able to go under the van)? In the front with what looks like a 6-7" top you probably can stand up with the top down.
Is that a raised floor/step up between the gauchos? Interesting design if that's the case. To me it seems floor height/access seems to be one of their most used selling points at Promaster.
It's storage... you can see pictures of it here: http://autoramblings.com/blog/?p=1425
I was told it's standard but also possibly optional if you didn't want it.

If a van is up on two wheels, there shouldn't be any chassis flex anyways! It's the 3-wheeling (like in the Sprinter 4x4 vids) that really gets the chassis torqued.
*holdsoutwrist* anybody gotta razor blade I can borrow?
EDIT: I realize I am looking at my own future there... someday... I guess. Gonna miss them ol' E350's
Really... you see yourself in one of them Marc? I like the Nissan better. God what the hell am I saying Where the hell do they get these designers? They're gonna pour us into a mold that we don't want to be in and tell us we gotta like it.

It occurred to me that Ford came full circle on the Mustang... Anybody remember those ugly@ss Mustang II's that showed up in the late 70's... after having such a wild success with the Mustang for roughly a decade. Now they're making 'em look an awful lot like the original
'course that has taken 40 years for 'em to realize... makes me about 95 when that cycle completes

I wonder too, if almost anything semi-reasonable grows on a person with a certain amount of exposure. On the one hand, no, the Aztec is still hideous to me; but on the other hand I really didn't like the new front clip on the vans in 2008, but now it looks good to me.
After driving the Transit, I almost didn't care. I really liked so many things about it. But then again, they could have all of those things without it looking like a demented Koala in the front....

I think the Aztec is pretty much hideous to everybody.........a typical half-baked GM product to compete with the Element, much like the HHR was late to the game to compete with PT Cruiser. Those two products reflect the innovation at GM.
What puzzles me is the nose on the transit......the transits in other countries have a different nose, I imagine the US version is to comply with some FMVSS standards or something. I think the Euro/Australia transit is much nicer looking.
Between the Transit and the Promaster, I prefer the looks of the Promaster. The rubber front end is growing on me........
