I live in SLC Utah but moved here from AZ. Defiantly will be out at Moab and southern utah and in the Uinta forest, so heat has crossed my mind but it also gets pretty cold (one of the reasons a high top seemed like a good buy even though it's freaking tall) I guess I do have a Starcool and generator if it's ever unbearably hot. Scratches are Defiantly unavoidable for all of us and probably more so with the tall behemoth I have, maybe I'll just have to carry a chainsaw.....

My quotes won't do it justice, I found a local guy that would paint my PH top sportsmobile for 1000-1400 if I sanded it to help prep. But my brother in law knows a guy who sells cars wholesale for a living in St. George and I can use his guy for $13 an hour plus supplies so it will be a pretty sweet deal

I forgot to ask, does anyone know what to do when repainting where the van and high top meet? There is a strip of rubber along the bottom edge of the top, do I tape that off (my guess so I can still add awning bracket etc and slip them under it) or paint over the whole thing to help prevent any leaking issues that may arise around the gutter??

Murder (flat) black or FJ Cement, my wife's favorite color and we happen to own that very thing.

I would tape it off. I think it would look pretty ghetto to paint it.

Maybe this question was already asked --- but what color is the interior?
Always nice to factor that into the exterior color selection.
(Do colors match....or contrast....or compliment each other etc)
If you happen to have a nice neutral color palate inside (that would look great with any exterior color), game on!!!

It's nice and neutral: white cabinets, grey carpet and some retro blue seat covers I'll eventually re-upholster

Which dash and door panels? It's Ford so I'm sure it's either gray or tan, or maybe that dark gray/blue color since it's older?

Some have done an auto wrap with very good results, and considerably cheaper, but sounds like you have a line on a decent deal for paint, keep in mind there's nothing worse than a crappy paint job, especially on that big of a canvas. I would paint the top part of the high top white whatever body color you choose, will help considerably with heat

Not the best pics but gives you an idea, don't love the tealish blue but the rest is in pretty great shape just needs a deep clean and I love the layout and amount of storage space it has
