Yeah, sounds like paint is a given to avoid future problems. I'm guessing it would also make it easier to keep van clean since paint should was off easier.
In looking at his thread I realized that if it is indeed the same exact top that I don't like the built-in spoiler at the back as much as I would have thought. On picture I posted above from a more perpendicular profile the integrated spoiler doesn't seem as pronounced. I've seen very similar tops in my area on vans just like mine and the rear was more squared off. Probably from different manufacturer.
