Re: Trailer Project

Not knowing much about trailers I am curious if the spare tire mounted on the side will through off the weight distribution and thus the tracking behind the tow vehicle.

I have too many projects. And I'm stupid so I keep adding to the list.

P.S. Some of the welds are not so nice, but you can't really see them!

With a couple dirtbikes and firewood and water and gas, the spare tire is a rounding error.

Re: Trailer Project

Really nice! I wonder if you might end up adding a pintel hitch for those off camber excursions?

Oh, I've got one better than that. Fully rotational solid mount hitch... Kind of like this:

I'll share pictures one of these days.

Re: Trailer Project

Did a test run of 500 miles hauling a couple bikes here and there.

And other than total suspension failure, the trailer works great!

Airbags completely deflated, not sure what happened, no time to figure it out. Suspension bottoming on the shocks for most of the trip. I think I may go Timbren axle-less, like I originally was planning when I was going to build my own trailer from scratch. Argh.

Well, at least it looked good going down the road, and the bikes have their own suspension, so it could have been worse......

Re: Trailer Project

Man that is pretty! Tractor Supply Co. sells weld on fenders for a good price.

I haven't ordered them yet but if you are considering building your own trailer, take a look at the Lincoln Foundations' trailer project/plans (like I plan on doing eventually):

I think I will order this latest project book vol. V (it has 10 trailer projects) or all five of the project books published over the years for $43?
