I wonder if a tune would clear it up. I was just talking to another friend with a new F150 and 10 speed who said about the same thing, it's quirky.

What MPG's are you seeing with your truck as is?

Yep, the 10 spd on my F150 I had before this had a really harsh shift from 1-3 or 3-5 or something like that. I never looked into it before I sold it. That was the only thing I didn't like about that truck. It was a great truck otherwise!

MPG for the F250:

- Around town driving I'm sub 10 mpg.

- Extended trips with the camper I seem to be solidly at a 10.5 or 10.6 mpg average. That's a mix of highway, surface streets, dirt roads, and 4 wheeling.

- Highway without the camper I'm probably in the 11's or maybe 12ish.

I was hoping the 10sp would net better than that.

At the end of the day you need x amount of energy to do x amount of work, regardless of whether the vehicle is 1 year old or 25 years old. My 24 yo 7.3 f350 gets a couple more mpg in similar situations, but the can probably be attributed to the additional energy in diesel.

I'm driving a 2020 f350 6.7 10sp for work and see the same, almost exactly the same mileage as my 2000. Sure is alot quieter though!

The mileage is about what I expected. I knew it wouldn't be great but I was growing tired of big diesels after 17 years with the 6.0 plus diesel was about a $9k premium on the new truck. That's a lot of regular gas.

Fully loaded truck camper weighs about the same as what my van was fully loaded. I maybe got 1-2 mpg more our of the van on long trips than I do out of the truck. All in all, no complaints on my decission.
