Re: 'Splain yer handle
Some friends call my husband by the nickname "Boomer", so... I picked littleboomer. I didn't know until later that he doesn't like that nickname!

Re: 'Splain yer handle
OK, I want to change my handle. I've come up with the perfect one for the van and for my forum handle. SEKS Machine!
Sam
Eric
Kristie
Sera
Hmmm. That may be too much. Oh well, I'll keep thinking...........

Re: 'Splain yer handle
Ha! That's funny...
Mine is not that clever, just my initials. Although I was nicknamed "chef ref" years ago on our trip through baja, I like to cook....but alas, I stuck with the old adage, KISS (keep it simple stupid)
Get up, everybody's gonna move their feet, get down, everybody's gonna leave their seat....
.....brilliant

Re: 'Splain yer handle
When I was a kid, 9 or 10 years old, my grandpa was a trucker and of course had the CB on all the time. My brother and I had walkie-talkies so of course we needed handles too. Not knowing much other than a lot of other truckers seemed to have alliterative handles, I picked a word that was cool to a kid in the late '80s, "Bogus", and combined that with my first name. A few years later, when we got CBs in our own trucks, we kept using the same handles, sort of as a joke when talking to each other, but it became habit.
Another few years later, the whole internet forum thing came about. I already had a handle, so I pretty much use that whenever I need one.

Re: 'Splain yer handle
Since somebody posted about their license plate, I'm bummed that I can't use the plate I had on my VW Westfalia on my SMB: WNDRLST. My Westy was tagged as a regular car (SW), while my SMB is a "mobile home" here in Pennsylvania and the tags are different. The tag is now on my Subaru Impreza, but it just doesn't "fit" that car.
My handle is pretty obvious. First name, last initial. After the fact I thought I should have been more creative...

Re: 'Splain yer handle
All right, I'll play. xcnick came from when I was hang gliding. I was never content to stay nearby and flew as far as I could, even if it meant hitch hiking home in the dark. "xc" is cross country nick. It came out in my post about Tioga where I showed pictures of the lake from my glider. I live in Tahoe so that was a few hundred miles away with no motor. It seems to apply to everything, including the Sportsmobile as we seem to go cross country camping at many spots. But I didn't make it up. Truth be said I am happy sitting in the hot tub watching tv and playing on the computer. ;-)

I have a ski bum friend who lived in her van with the plate "Foley." Anybody remember the motivational speaker Matt Foley who lived in a van down by the river?
