What's the matter deminimis, couldn't find a Greyhound to covert....
You should be fine in Baja, most of the road is paved now.
Nice looking rig though.

Re: Well, I Swallowed the Bitter Pill. Adios Amigos.
I have to agree with you about the jacks. I saw a guy hit poorly placed steel flower pot (huge) and take the corner off his camper. It's really a big risk to keep them on when traveling.
When we had a pickup/camper we made the jacks quick-removable. I used slightly longer bolt with a nut on the jack. Then I could put the bolts through the camper mounts and spin on wingnuts. About 1 min/jack to install or remove.

Nice combo. There is compromise in every decision. That thing looks comfortable, but now longer a daily driver and no drivethu's for you.

Re: Well, I Swallowed the Bitter Pill. Adios Amigos.
I know you're pulling my leg Herb, but don't think I didn't think about an AM General rig before. You can get them on the cheap from this fellow, slap a 5th wheeler on back (or a custom build) and viola! http://www.idahomotorpool.com/
For us, I need something to use for camping, hauling and sometimes just getting around, so the truck/camper combo made the most sense. Plus, a M-35 must get, what, 6 MPG at a top speed of 50 MPH? Now, if we lived near Baja and could get more use out of such a single-purpose rig, a M conversion would be the ticket.

Re: Well, I Swallowed the Bitter Pill. Adios Amigos.
Well been busy outfitting the truck for Baja. Installed new front suspension components, raised teh front a couple of inches, then had it aligned, new Bilstein 5100s all around. Skid plates and mud flaps arrived yesterday. Installed air bags over the weekend (easy install, by the way). So, with the proper 6-step ladder, we can now get into the camper when its on the truck. Geeszch this thing is big (but comfy):
The shop door in this pic is 10'
