Thanks Steelhead. On post #31 above the first picture shows it pretty well. The walls are slightly contoured but the flat bed surfaces hug very close. The long piano hinge has held up well. The bed can be used full width, or singly each side with folding legs on each half.
I have full length cross members for best support when the entire bed is used.
Not many shortcomings for me. My brainstorming on this design has worked well. One shortcoming of which I may upgrade to is, an Espar (gas)heater. Its cold in the cold. Maybe lipo batteries too, although I resist bigger costs on my now older van.
One other shortcoming is having locking hubs. If I did it again, I would have auto hubs & shift on the fly. I should not have to stop & get out in icy/snowy conditions to lock in to continue. Of course locking hubs are durable.
Its a stone age van by Sprinter standards, but I think various ideas could transfer over.
