Tetons are such a great spot. Big cutthroats and even bigger views. The Gros Ventre just north east of Jackson is a great area to explore. Big Beavers, trout, and lots of dirt roads into beautiful big mountains. Love the rocky's.

Sounds great. So, I should take my fly fishing gear...

I was just at Yellowstone and Grand Tetons as well but there was so much smoke blowing in from the CA fires we couldnít see much of anything (8/20). We boondocked outside of Hatchet.

Wyoming is pretty far north of SoCal, so I was a little skeptical. So, I looked up the latest jet stream map. By golly, you're right.

DosMars,
Curious about the dispersed camping you mentioned.
Are within the Tetons and Yellowstone NP's?
I like Wander will be heading that way mid September with 1st stop in Flaming Gorge, UT.
Then heading north into Wyoming. Any info would be helpful. I like dispersed camping and fishing.

There is no legal dispersed camping within any National Park, but perfectly legal within almost any National Forest. Both Yellowstone and the Tetons are surrounded by hundreds of thousands of acres of NF, as are most big parks.

Just about every notable park in the nation has been discussed here at with good off-grid camping options near it. Just search around or ask when you are headed in a certain direction.

Hey, HIGHCOUNTRYMIKE, Since your coming from that direction (and, if you have time), you might consider Echo Park Campground in Dinosaur National Monument. We're going to stop there on our way home.
