Re: PNW Meet and Greet in June

CJ,

we are camping on whidbey island right now at deception pass for tonight. It is a nice campground. The ocean is a short distance away and the campsites are relatively private. Kids are having a good time. Have fun on the Olympic peninsula

Re: PNW Meet and Greet in June

I'm planning to make it. Can't get off work early so will be leaving Bellingham at 4:30pm. Mapquest says 1:45 travel time so with no major traffic I'll be there at 6:15. Since it stays light until 10 I'll have plenty of time there.

Re: PNW Meet and Greet in June

Roonie, we were looking to stay there however, we were fortunate enough to get one of the 20 spots in the Cliffside RV Park on the Naval Air Station (Oak Harbor). I'll let you know how it is.

Thanks for the info, see you at the Meet N Greet?

Thanks again

Chris

BRAIN, that’s great it will be nice to have a drink and chat again, looking foreword to it, sees ya there.

Re: PNW Meet and Greet in June

Sat
65° / 52°
P/C showers

My gosh! Girl Scouts had their last meeting, kids are out of school, sports have wrapped up and the weather is cloudy with some showers and a high of 65! It must be summertime in Washington

I have bought some fine beer (Bitburger, of course) and juice boxes for all those that attend. I ordered the weather especially to keep the crowds down at the beach. It will be a fine opportunity to blow the carbon off your diesel heater.

I'll bring a canopy just in case we have more showers than expected

Re: PNW Meet and Greet in June

Heh! We left So Cal it was in the 90's and have had 2 day without rain since, so if it rains we wont know any deferent. In fact the irony of it for us was when we decided in the rain to go find a camp site in the rain forest

Dibs on the strawberry juice box.

Hopefully no wind so we can circle the vans and put out awnings?

See ya there.

Re: PNW Meet and Greet in June

I'm not going to be able to make it in the end - sorry to miss meeting you all.

A friend of mine might drop past, though. He and his girlfriend have been thinking about VWs, so I suggested he also check out a Sportsmobile. If he does show up, it would be great if someone could show him a rig or two or ten His name is Bill.

Have fun! Wish I could be there.

Cheers,
Mike.

They can check out our van... no problem.

I was hoping to talk to you about solar install as that is next on my list and check out yours. Was hoping to get a walk through on the install procedure as well and materials needed. Will catch you some other time.

Re: PNW Meet and Greet in June

Thanks!

Sorry not to be there to chat about solar (and just to meet you all!) - I was going to talk to another person about it there as well.

I work in Kirkland, and I see you live there... I can drive the van in one day if you want to meet up. If that doesn't work, I did say that I'd write something up to post, so I'll get on that as soon as I can. You'll be surprised how simple it is, and I'll take some pictures of where the wire goes through the roof and through the canvas.

Hope you all had a good time!! Sorry to miss you. I hope to make the next meetup.

Cheers,
Mike.

Re: PNW Meet and Greet in June

Awesome time! Great to meet everyone and all really nice folks. So cool to see so many vans in one spot. CJ gets the award for coming the longest way but great to meet you and see your rig. Time to start organizing a weekend campout for the fall. Some pics.....

Re: PNW Meet and Greet in June

Agreed, great time and great people + amazing selection of vans. My wife and daughter were unfortunately unable to attend this event, so I was flying solo (so rather than TWOLOST+1, I was just… LOST). Anyway… when I got home two hours late, my wife said that she was beginning to get a little concerned. I told her that I was late because I was in jail. Whaaaaaat?? she exclaimed. Well you see, there was this posse of kids at the meet and greet… and even though I was never fully briefed as to the charges these deputized kids said that I had to go to SMB jail. Sure enough, they escorted me to Roonie’s SMB and made me stand there with my hands on the rear bumper for 20 seconds!! Then I got talking with Jim about bird photography. Then Brian showed up. Next thing I knew… it was after 9:00pm.

Thanks everyone! Kids were great. Have a safe trip back to CA CJ.

Cheers,
TWOLOST +1
