Unhappy Auxiliary tank failure

Help please. I have a 1998 E350 V10 Quigley/Sportsmobile. The Transfer Flow auxiliary gas tank quit working. My mechanic said both the electronic control unit in the cab and the pump in the tank no longer work, and he doesn't know how to fix or replace either. Transfer Flow told him it does not support its products older than 2010. I've looked for aftermarket units but haven't found anything compatible with that year with the V10. I could if it was the V8 or diesel. anyone else have this issue they have overcome or have any thoughts? Thanks!

It depends on the system you have. If the aux tank also has a fuel-return line, you can use the selector valve and switch from a ‘97 F-Superduty 7.5L.

If the aux tank is a return-less design, such as the one used with the Trax system, you might have to just use a timer-base transfer tank switch.

yep, been there with the TRAX but in my case the display and control worked but the transfer pump inside the aux tank had failed. This was years ago and TF did a fix that cost $1100++ back when $1100 was a bunch of $$.

In my simpleminded hindsight I probably should have just found an external two way pump and figured out a way to plumb that in. There are crap load of hoses if I remember correctly.

The rear tank is only transferred (filled or drained) via a pump, there is no separate external rear tank fill. If I was going to get fancy I would have added a second fuel gauge to measure the rear tank.

The TRAX setup was always monitoring the two tanks and transferring fuel to keep the two tanks about even. Seems overly complicated.

Thanks much for the feedback. I hope to pull the tank at the end of the month and see what I can do.

Worth considering (assuming return lines) is this fuel selector switch. I just picked one up as I am adding a second rear aft tank. Haven't quite decided the "fill nozzle" part yet.

I recall reading somewhere there is an inline fuse in series with the transfer flow controller and removing it will make the system behave as if it was stock. Does your main fuel gauge work? Could the fuse be blown or a wire damaged/shorted going back to the aux tank?

Following this thread & would appreciate seeing how you "hopefully" resolve the issue. My system is 21 years old and I may find myself in the same position sooner or later...
